Favorites to Make Cleaning Easier:

Firstly, I want to address the fact that I do not have a lot of patience when it comes to cleaning. I am not sure why, but it is almost becomes mentally painful to get myself to buckle down and focus on cleaning.

This is weird since I love a tidy, organized, and well-cleaned space. However, when I have a system in place, the task becomes so much easier for me. This is especially true when I can see the items being accomplished through a simple, physical checkmark on the paper.

Developing a system that works for you is important and may not be the same as another person's system. This is okay. Our minds work differently for a reason, and it is important to set a system up accordingly to best nurture that difference in thinking.

Cleaning Schedule Breakdown

Daily Cleaning Schedule

There are two daily checklist options in the free printable cleaning schedule I offer. The first includes a morning and afternoon schedule checklist while the second includes the morning and afternoon checklists along with the weekly chore/chores that need to be added in each day of the week.

If you choose to download the Printable, you will receive both options. A weekly schedule is also included separately. This allows you to use the daily and weekly schedule separately if needed. However, you also have the option of using the second checklist with daily tasks and weekly tasks included on the bottom.

Option #1 provides you with a simple breakdown daily cleaning routine. This provides a realistic cleaning schedule for the the busy outside of the house working mom or busy at home working mom. Both need a simple cleaning schedule to check off daily.

Then you still have the option of refering to the weekly schedule and implementing it when it best fits your routine.

Option #2 offers the same easy cleaning schedule on the top. However, added to the bottom is a daily list with a chore or two to complete each day of the week.

Each chore is broken into the appropriate day of the week category. Just simply insert that chore into your routine when the day comes. This is for the mom that wants to incorporate schedules and wants to be able to view and reference both schedules on one piece of paper.

Weekly Cleaning Schedule

The weekly cleaning schedule consists of completing 1-3 chores each day in addition to the daily chores. When you break the chores down, keeping a tidy house becomes more realistic and easier.

Completing these tasks one day at a time will help keep down clutter and make housekeeping more manageable.

The weekly cleaning schedule includes washing, vacuuming, dusting, and organizing all rooms of the house. It is an overall plan which combines tasks into categories as opposed to rooms.

The reason for this is because cleaning a whole room at a time can be overwhelming. This means often times not everything is gotten to. If you can focus on vacuuming, dusting, or washing everything at one time, you are able to seemlessly fly through the house accomplishing the task without switching out tools or shifting your mindset.

This is what the weekly schedule keeps in mind. Concentrating on one task will alleviate stress and accomplish your goal faster. Plus, it will not stress out the mind by the switching of activities.

Monthly Cleaning Schedule

The daily and weekly tasks are covered, but the monthly schedule is added in to account for the tasks that do not have to be done as frequently.

These include "bigger" tasks. Some of you may not include these as monthly cleaning tasks and would instead categorize them into spring and fall cleaning.

If this is this is the case, simply cross the task off the to do list. However, if you begin completing them at least every other month, you will find your spring cleaning to be much more seamless.

Some of these monthly tasks include vacuuming under the bed, wiping the outside of the cupboards, cleaning inside the microwave, washing the walls, tidying up the medicine cabinet, and washing above the window and door ledges.

Spring and Fall Cleaning Lists

These printable cleaning schedules include spring and fall cleaning checklists as well to help you when your house needs a deep cleaning. Moms have a busy schedule whether in the home or out, so using a helpful checklist in these areas can really be a game changer and keep you on track.

The spring cleaning schedule covers what you need to do both inside the home and breaks outside chores down as well. The fall cleaning schedule is a little lighter, however, the schedule can easily be adapted to include extras with the added blank lines.

Tips to get a clean home

There are steps you can take to make cleaning easier for you. These steps work for the most part, but like everything, there is a time and place for each step. Developing new habits come with time. Practicing these, as well as adjusting and implementing these tips, will get you a clean house with less of a headache.

The tips are as follows:
  • Get family members involved for less time cleaning. Even the littlest can do something. Kids are usually more eager to help at a real young age. If you set a precedence early, the child considers it normal everyday life instead of a new annoying thing to do.
  • Stick to a routine to the best of you ability. Doing so will also get the family into a weekly cleaning routine, and they will require a little less coaxing (for the most part) to do the cleaning. Also, you will be setting them up with good habits that hopefully will carry over in the future.
  • Hang the Schedule in an easy to see spot. Hang the daily cleaning checklist. It does not have to stick out like a sore thumb amongst the decor, however, placing it in a common area which is viewed often will remind people of jobs that need to be done.
  • Check off as you go. A simple check next to weekly or daily cleaning tasks will remind you and others which chores have been done and which chores still need doing.
  • Create a cleaning basket or a cleaning turntable. I use these turnables as well as these caddies. It makes things so much easier when cleaning supplies are well-organized in one place. I prefer the mesh baskets because you can easily view the items through the basket.
  • Declutter - Decluttering is the best way to simplify your cleaning. You will be able to focus better on your daily and weekly cleaning tasks when you have less stuff to work around and you do not see clutter. Decluttering in itself can take a messy house to a tidy home in no time.
  • Household chores according to strengths - While it is true that practice is needed for someone to get better at a task, there are certain tasks that some just perform well. Allow family members to help with the chores that best suit them when wanting to clean within a timeframe.
  • Ask For Cleaning Service Gifts - When it comes time to tell a person a gift idea for you, consider asking for a gift certificate towards a cleaning service. Using this service during the time of spring cleaning could be beneficial.

Focus on Non-Toxic Cleaning

No matter how busy we are, the number one focus should be on cleaning with the most useful and effective but least toxic products possible. There are many products on the market now which work so well but do not contain harmful chemicals.

Try and implement these products as much as possible if you do not already. Changing over your cleaning supplies will be a huge benefit to you in the long run. Busy moms have plenty enough to do as it is. Adding health, learning, and behavioral problems to the mix due to a toxic overload is not needed and should be avoided as much as possible.

Cleaning Ideas For kids broken down by age groups

Getting your kids involved in cleaning will not only help you with the cleaning process, but it will also occupy them while you clean. Below are a few ideas for different age groups.

These ideas will vary according to the maturity and capability of the kids. Additonally, older kids and young teens will be able to assist with most of the things on the lists. Therefore, I did not include a list for that age range.

kids ages 3-5

  • Younger kids can sort clothes into "like" piles. For instance, towels, shirts, socks, etc.
  • Place toys into bins

  • Assist you in the task at hand
  • Wash areas of walls

kids ages 6-8

  • Vacuum
  • Pick up own rooms

kids ages 9-11

  • Vacuum

Developing new habits can be difficult to do. Placing a cleaning schedule where it can be seen is a good way to remind everyone in the household that certain chores need to be done.

Laminating the free printable cleaning schedule to easily check off is a great way to keep the entire family informed and up-to-date on cleaning. It may even be a helpful way to bring down stress levels.
