Colon Cleanse Juice Recipe (Easy & Homemade)

colon cleanse juice

Colon cancer is one of the top types of cancer affecting people in the United States.

It is listed as the second most common form of cancer among men and women. This is alarming. I juice a wide variety of fruits and vegetables for my family.

Incorporating fruits and vegetables that are healthy for the colon is, of course, part of the rotation. This juice is yummy and packed with nutrients.  Below you will find the reasons why these specific foods are good for cleansing the large intestine.

This juice recipe differs from many typical colon cleanse recipes. This juice gives essential nutrients important for colon health and focuses on preventative colon care.

It can help with constipation and the digestive system. It is overall great for colon health for most people.

What is in the juice?

Pomegranate Seed Juice

Pomegranate is a fruit found to have protectant effects on the colon in the case of cancer prevention.

When doing a colon cleanse, nourishing it with properties to defend against disease is smart, and that is what we are going to do with this juice.

The seeds from pomegranates create juice when pressed.

The Intestinal bacteria metabolize elagtanins (a type of polyphenol that protects cells due to various properties) present in pomegranates.

Pomegranates are also high in punicalagin, which contributes to their antioxidant properties.

These compounds help protect the health and environment of the large intestine as well as lower inflammation.

Red Beets

Red beetroot's betaxanthins have been shown to have promising anti-cancer and anti-microbial activities.

The red beetroot juice shows promising effects on colon health in regards to the above findings.

Oftentimes, beets are peeled. However, I recommend gently scrubbing the beet before juicing without peeling it.

This is to preserve and maintain the betaxanthins that are found in the peel of the beetroot.

Sweet Potato

Another vegetable that exhibits natural colon health benefits is the sweet potato.

The juice from the sweet potato helps with regularity as well as inflammation in the digestive tract.

Lemon Juice

Lemons are a great source of vitamin which is well-known for its ability to support the immune system.

However, it has also been shown to aid in colon health. The pulp juice and peel of lemons both contain bioactives that positively impact colon health and gut health.

These bioactives can regulate cancerous cells in the colon due to the genetic and environmental interactions of individuals.

Specifically, limonin (an organic compound) shows anti-cancerous and anti-inflammatory properties that are beneficial to the health of the large intestine.

Ginger Juice

Gingerol is the pungent, active compound in ginger.

It provides numerous benefits to the body, including easing the movement of food throughout the intestinal tract.

Ginger is spicy, and it does not take much for it to still be effective.

I only included a small amount in the juice recipe below. Feel free to use more if you love the ginger spiciness.
