What to Eat For Glowing Skin

Foods  & Supplements containing Omega 3 Fatty Acid

Omega 3 fatty acids are extremely helpful in achieving glowing skin.  They reduce inflammation which is helpful for healing the body.  When the body is working correctly, then it can absorb the minerals and vitamins it needs.  Vitamins and minerals are a huge factor in radiant looking skin.

Also, acne and dermatitis are helped which hinder any type of skin to glow.  Red, inflamed skin is not what you need when trying to achieve healthy, glowing skin.  Take care of these problems with the right foods containing omega fatty acid and achieve the skin you want.

According to this source, the amount of omega 3s that you have in you body can affect your body's ability to better handle ultraviolet ray exposure from the sun. Applying moisture to the skin right after sun exposure will also naturally help with the glow of the skin.

EFAs (Omega 3s and Omega 6s) are important for the health of the skin's layers, the dermal and the epidermal. These fats must be obtained from our diet.  Therefore, it makes since that you need to eat them in order for your skin to be as healthy and radiant as possible.

Foods containing Vitamin C

  • Bell Peppers
  • Broccoli
  • Brussel Sprouts
  • Parsley
  • Cherries
  • Lemons
  • Oranges
  • Strawberries
  • Papaya
  • Grapefruit
  • Currants
  • Rosehip Tea

High amounts of vitamin C are found in healthy skin.  If your skin does not have the necessary vitamin c levels, then the ability for it to look glowing and radiant begins to diminish.

Eating foods with vitamin C will boost your vitamin C intake.  Also, there are many glowing skin products on the market today that contain vitamin C.  Some of the highly effective products are linked later down.

Dry  Brushing/  Wet Brushing/ (Exfoliating)

Dry brushing involves the removal of dead skin cells through the use of a bristled, dry brush.  One works in a circulation motion from the bottom to the top of the body circling inward toward the heart.

Dry brushing is good not only for removing old skin to make way for new, improving circulation and opening pores, it also helps the body to detox which is a win all the way around.

Dry brushing tends to be more effective than the wet brushing talked about below.  The use of water hinders the skin's capabilities of removing as much dead skin.  This does not mean, however, that wet brushing is not worth doing. Interchanging methods would be helpful if time permits.

DRY BRUSH (HIGH-QUALITY)

Wet Brushing is also a method of exfoliation.  It involves use of a loofah while bathing.  It is best to use warm or lukewarm water, not hot water, when exfoliating.  Too hot of water can be harsh on the skin.

Your loofah or wet brush should be used for 2-3 months at the most before replacing it.

The dry brush needs to be cleaned when dirt accumulates.  Brushing off skin cells lead to bacteria and dirt build up on the brush. This is not healthy for the skin and will not help to achieve naturally glowing skin.

SWEATING  For Glowing Skin - (Helpful Routines)

Sauna

The body sweats out toxins while using a sauna.  The sweat hydrates the skin and gives it a nice, natural glow.

Collagen production is increased with use of a sauna as well.  Collagen gives the skin elasticity and the youthful appearance.

Not only are collagen levels enhanced, but circulation is also elevated.  Increased circulation provides the skin with a radiant glow.

I know when my teens come out of the sauna they have an amazing, beautiful glow.  They have said the same thing to me. Not that my kids don't think of complimenting me, but they do not think of it everyday. So this definitely reinforces the glow factor for me.

Finally saunas produce heat which induces sweating. The heat from the sauna helps the body rid itself of dead cells, which as stated above, helps make way for fresh skin. This provides you with more radiant skin.

Exercising

Caution needs to be used when implementing this into your naturally glowing skin routine.  There are different types of exercises, and you need to make sure you do the type of exercise that will best benefit your body's needs.

Not using appropriate exercise will result in not creating a healthy skin state.  Instead it can cause inflammation and a stressed state for your body.

Toxins are removed from the skin when sweating occurs.  This will leave less impurities and unclog pores. However, exercise does not remove toxins as intensely as the the sauna does.

Other benefits of exercise include increased blood circulation and stimulation of the lymphatic system. This helps with detox and increased vibrancy of the skin.   Circulation has been mentioned often and obviously is important to a healthy skin glow.

YOGA for Glowing Skin

This study shows the correlation between certain yoga exercises and aging of the skin. Breathing exercises and yoga stances show to be beneficial for maintaining healthy skin and this is important since aged skin is duller and drier.

Yoga has been shown to play an important and positive role in glucose levels, tissue performance and blood flow.

The Uttanasana, which is the forward bend and the sarvangasana, which is a shoulder stand, are both yoga stances that are very effective in achieving a radiant glow. Blood flow and hormonal balance are a couple of the benefits addressed.

To help bring glow to your face, you can do the tapping pose.  This yoga pose will get your blood circulating in the face.

Hydration For Naturally glowing skin

Staying hydrated is good for the body in many ways.  Helping your skin to achieve a glow is one of those ways.  One of the easiest ways that you can get glowing skin (and hair) is to drink water.

Now, some people just don't like the taste of water.  If this is a problem for you, then adding fruits, mint or cucumbers to the water can help.  There are also packets and drops that can be added to water to flavor it. Choose a brand that uses safe and natural ingredients.

There are not a lot of scientific studies on the direct effect of drinking water on the skin. However, it is noted in studies how water impacts digestion and the blood.  If this is the case, it only makes sense that in turn skin will be affected.

Also, water flushes out toxins.  This is why it important to drink water during a detox and when you take detox supplements, such as charcoal.  Less toxins are going to allow for healthier and more radiant skin.

If your digestion is working better, your skin will be healthier and less dry and rash covered.  Here is one study that states how people with poor water consumption have duller and drier skin.  It shows a correlation between higher water consumption and healthier skin.

More studies need to be done to confirm the exact impact that hydration has on healthy, glowing skin. However, if hydration is better for the body in general, then it is safe to assume the skin microbiome will be positively impacted as well.

Natural glowing skin for the face

It is important to not use too many skin care remedies at once.  Products contain different ingredients to the help the skin.  Certain ingredients can cancel each other out and end up being no longer effective.  Be mindful of what ingredients are in your product and consider alternating them different times of the day.

FAcial Massage

Facial massages increase circulation in the face and relaxes the muscles in the face.  This in turns brings a healthy, glowing state to the face's skin.

These massages can be performed by hands massaging the face or with the use of tools.  Face rolling is a great beauty regimen routine to incorporate.

Here is one tool that is extremely beneficial for radiant looking skin and a smooth skin texture.  This tool tights your skin for a youthful appearance and relaxes the muscles of the face for a calmer, more vibrant look.  Place it in the refrigerator for an extra added chill factor.  The cold tightens the skin and reduces clogged pores.

Face Masks for naturally glowing skin

Face masks are wonderful for providing glow to the outside of the skin.  Depending on the type of mask you do, different nourishment will be provided to the skin.  You will not want to overdue it with these, however, since you will want to give the face a chance to rest in-between masks.

Only do a face mask once or maybe twice a week, depending on your skin type.
