A Great Herbal Tea For Anxiety Recipe
Do you feel anxious often? Want a way to naturally calm feelings of anxiety relatively quickly? Drinking this herbal tea for anxiety recipe is a safe way to relieve your stress and anxiety symptoms easily.
Anxious feelings are exhausting. Many people experience anxiety, but the degrees to which people experience it differ greatly.
My daughter has been finding some anxiety relief these days through a simple cup of herbal tea. She does change her teas up, but she noticed a difference not only with her anxiety but also with her mood.
We put into practice many health and healing methods on a regular basis. We know that many factors in our body affect anxiousness. This tea helps anxiety symptoms but does not cure an anxiety disorder.
However, tea is a simple and relatively inexpensive way to manage anxious feelings. Health practices can be simple and soothing at the same time. Try this tea recipe for your anxiety any time of the year.
Why These Ingredients?
There are several different herbs that have been shown to calm the nervous system. The ones used in this tea were chosen due to their taste, other added benefits, and their overall reaction to the body compared to the other herbs.
Herbal tea ingredients used
Chamomile
Chamomile's soothing and calming properties may not be a shocker. It is well-known for its gentle nature and mild taste compared to some herbs.
Apigenin, an antioxidant (also termed a flavonoid) found in chamomile and other herbs, has been used to help with sleep and calm the digestive system.
The positive effects of apigenin on anxiety as well as the digestive system can be found in studies such as this. Although the amount dosage of chamomile may play a role in its effectiveness.
Lastly, chamomile works well in conjunction with many other herbs such as the ones in this tea.
Lemon Balm
Another extremely helpful anxiety herb used in this herbal tea recipe is lemon balm. This herb is one of my favorites to combat anxiety problems of all intensity levels.
Lemon balm is shown in studies to help with the neurotransmitter, or amino acid, GABA-A. This is important because GABA is the main amino acid that slows down neuron signaling. It calms the nervous system down and regulates symptoms such as anxiety.
The compound in lemon balm known as rosmarinic acid increases levels of GABA, triggering a calming reaction. We have used lemon balm in tincture form as well as tea form.
This herb does a phenomenal job if the herb itself is high-quality and the processing of the herb is done correctly. This herb is also useful for those with sleep disorders.
Lavender
The third herb used in this herbal tea blend is lavender due to its relaxing effect. Studies show lavender eases the heart rate and regulates mood and the nervous system.
Sleep quality is positively affected as well because of lavender's impact on the body's nerves. I have never been a fan of the smell of lavender, however, some find it relaxing as well.
This herb is used in a smaller amount due to its taste. If you like the taste of lavender, feel free to add more of this herb.
Mango Leaves (Optional)
Lastly, mango leaves can be a nice addition to the tea. These are not as easily accessible, so feel free to leave this ingredient out.
Mango leaves contain nutrients and antioxidants that help with inflammation and oxidative stress which help with mood balance. Although a plant, not an herb, these leaves help calm nerves and the essence they give off may help relieve stress.
